Dr. Bersamina earned a bachelor of science in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior from the University of California at Davis in 2003. She earned her doctorate from the Southern California College of Optometry in 2008 and is certified in the treatment and management of ocular diseases. As a recipient of the Navy Health Professionals Scholarship, she was commissioned as a U.S. naval officer and completed military training in Newport, Rhode Island. She then served for over 4 years as an active duty Navy optometrist, providing care to the members of our armed forces and their dependents, both on land and aboard the USS Nimitz and USS Makin Island. During her time in the Navy, she had the pleasure of teaching and mentoring students as clinical faculty for a number of optometry schools. She enjoys providing care to LASIK patients and had surgery herself in 2007. Currently, Dr. Bersamina is pursuing a Master of Business Administration from UCLA's Anderson School of Management where she spends most weekends.
