Had a great visit the other day. Dr. Kelly did a good job in my eye exam and gave me a thorough explanation of what he looked for. I was in and out in less than an hour and no wait time.

When I made the initial appt. I asked about where the surgery was done for cataracts. The person said we have an operating facility behind us for our surgeries. Later I found out due to my insurance, I now have to go across town -which is NOT convenient. I am going to request a letter of reconsideration from Dr. Hawthorne for my insurance company - but I not sure that will help.

I highly recommend Howerton Eye Clinic for eye care. I was able to get an appointment when I needed needed it. All the staff were friendly and professional. The nurse I saw was very helpful in explaining what she was doing and why she was doing it. The doctor I saw was very competent and examined my eyes thoroughly and gently. And, I was not kept waiting forever in the waiting room! I am very happy to have found Howerton Eye Clinic.

Having read on Yelp that long wait times were a problem, I came to my appointment with a negative expectation. I’m happy to say you all wowed the socks off me. LaMadric could be your poster child for caring professionalism. I was direct, assertive, and nosy. Nothing threw him. My payment questions were handled by the front office staff in a kind and respectful manner. I appreciated hearing Dr. Kelly’s examination findings spoken, unedited, to the woman assisting him. It opened the opportunity for me to learn more about my condition. I’ll be back for additional treatment.

She answers any questions I might have and offers suggestions, if needed.

Dr. Hawthorne diagnosed a retinal tear in my left eye. Despite the late hour she got me to a retina specialist who could see me and get me on the OR schedule for the next day. Dr. Hawthorne has saved that eye twice: when I got shingles and this retinal tear. She took care of my cataracts and put in implanted lenses. I now see the world again! The staff at Howerton is beyond wonderful. They are friendly, knowledgable and efficient. They are great at scheduling, followups, insurance billing--you name it!

Friendly, thorough assistance throughout my appointment. Even got an eye exam with prescription despite not coming in for this reason- thank you. Only issue was discovered upon leaving... my eyes were so dilated I could barely drive myself away, even with my sunglasses. That was a safety hazard and I should have been provided special coverage. Not sure if it was a mistake or what, but my eyes were dilated still when I went to bed at 11 pm.

I am always pleased with the professional staff, especially Dr. Scott Kelly, at the Howerton Clinic both at the Kyle and off 35 frontage road in Austin. Dr. Scott conducted cataract surgery on one of my eyes and my eyesight has improved immensely, unlike surgery conducted on my other eye by another Dr. I will continue to see Dr. Kelly in the future.

I love Dr. Hawthorne. She is fantastic! The quality of care and professionalism is confidence building as well. However, every single time I go the office has booked too many appointments at the same time. Yesterday my appointment was at 10:30. I finally saw the Dr at 11:55. I was almost late to work because of this delay. If this was a one time thing it would be ok but it's every time. Hate to change providers because I totally trust my eye care to Dr. Hawthorne but being kept waiting so long everytime is getting old and annoying.

I feel very relieved. I have had diabetes for 21 years, so my annual diabetic eye exam is important to me. I had first selected Dr K. Hawthorne as my eye doctor because of her extensive credentials. This is my second visit with her. The staff was great, getting me out in less than one hour. Dr Hawthorne did a very thorough exam and announce that I have no diabetic eye disease. We discussed my possible future eye health needs and Dr Hawthorne answered all of my questions. She also provided some information that I could take home. I left feeling very reassured about my eye health and my eye care. Thank you!!!

The front office staff, including the optical shop, were very helpful and friendly, and Dr. Kelly is thorough and professional, answering all my questions. I can't say the same for Mitchell, who was brusque and gave me wrong information about what the office could provide as to glasses measurements, which Dr. Kelly corrected. Just like a year or so ago the eye check up was great with a great staff. My insurance is Medical and Tricare, however I was required to pay a little over 19 dollars. Many years have passed since my last eye exam. I felt that experience was excellent but Mondays exam was absolutely incredible. There was a more extensive testing. And a warmer more calming attention paid to me. SO....I have nothing but the highest praise for the new patient procedures. I am so glad to have found Howerton Eye Clinic. The front office staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful in every way. The medical assistants seemed knowledgeable, competent, and displayed a professional demeanor throughout our visit. Dr. Torres was friendly, and personable when meeting my mother and me for the first time. She also put us both as ease with her warm personality. Dr. Torres displayed outstanding knowledge of the medical issue(s) which brought us to her clinic. She asked relevant questions, and sought to understand our concerns. She was patient and displayed outstanding listening skills. In essence, I feel fortunate to have been referred to the Howerton Eye Clinic, and I am confident in building a positive doctor-patient relationship.

The staff was professional and courteous and obviously capable and competent. The doctor was knowledgeable and helpful. I WOULD, however warn new patients that you have limited parking available and give instructions on how to find alternate parking at the time their appointment is booked. I spent a good 15-20 minutes simply trying to park my vehicle.

No complaints at all about Dr. Hawthorne and the rest of the staff in Kyle. I adore them all and I am very grateful for their care. However, I would hope the practice could pay some attention to the physical environment in South Austin. The surgery waiting room is dim and small, with a very dour person on the front desk and loose standards for cleanliness. For example, at one of my visits, someone had brought their dog into the very small waiting room. I am not allergic, but my husband is. Even without being allergic, I had concerns about danders and dirt. I'd really like to see that area brightened and cleaned up to reflect the good quality of the surgical care. Thanks for the opportunity to give this feedback in support of your facility's diligence in providing good medical care.

My appointment was for the annual examination. The examination was with Dr. Hawthorne. She administered my cataract surgery 1 year ago. As always, she is very thorough and patient. She answered all of my questions and I was very pleased that the examination was very positive. I'm in the process of referring my brother to Dr. Hawthorne for his cataract surgery.

Everyone was courteous and everything went well with the surgery. The post surgery info re: the frequency of the prescribed eye drops was inaccurate - I was informed of the correct instructions by the Dr. at the follow-up appt. the next day.

Dr. Kelly was as always patient and informs you on how your eyes are doing with clear and concise information. Great at scheduling appts, arranging to get paid for both cataract surgerys. I have requested (3 times) with some runaround, to get the warranty card for the intraocular lense, for left eye. I last spoke with Michele, who told me it had been mailed. Have not received. My take , as a business owner of over 30 years, is that if it doesnt relate to making money, its at the bottom of your priority list. Poor service after the sale.Outside of that I can see much better, Dr. Kelly and staff were excellent.

Everything was fine, except for the wait time. I was told to come back at 1 pm and ended up having to wait an hour. The doctor was held up at another office. I'm sure it was unavoidable, but I was not a happy camper. Other than that I liked the doctor and the thorough eye exam. It seems to me that the office should have more doctors present at this location.

Very on time....pleasant employees

I was very relieved when I was in a critical situation with my eye, I was able to get in to see a doctor at the location I preferred within an hour! I left understanding something about my diagnosis and feeling good about the treatment. I have repeatedly had great service and care over the past year. Thank you!

Before I came to see Dr Kelly, I had been examined for 5 or 7 years for a condition of my eyes. Nobody caught what he caught and nobody fixed it but him. Thank you Dr Kelly!

Dr Hawthorne and her staff were very polite and caring. She asked questions and listened to what I told her. She tried her best to help me and scheduled a follow-up with someone else for a second option.

I'm very pleased with the way my cataract surgery went. I never realized how badly the cataracts had impacted my vision. I didn't realize what I was missing after until my first surgery when I could compare the vision difference between the two eyes. Dr. Kelly & all of his staff were very knowledgeable, professional & kind. I had a very positive experience!

We began on time with several back-to-back, crisp testing (my nurse never left my side to keep it going and was an asset for me to ask questions). I saw a new doctor that day who was well informed with my years of eye history. A follow-up appointment was scheduled with-in weeks.....not months like I have been experienced elsewhere.

2nd eye refraction was far superior compared to the first pass. We liked Dr. Torres a lot! Equate (Walmart) eye vitamin basically the same as the suggested AREDS-2 branded for far less COst!

Loved Dr. Hawthorne and the staff! Wait time was too long-almost an hour-before I was called to exam room. Also, please update the online patient forms. The medical form is English not there-has another form where medical form should be. I filled out the Spanish form (luckily my hisband is bilingual) instead. Overall, I really liked the experience.

Love the staff!!!! Very professional!!! Hate ALWAYS having a long wait. What's the point of a 2:30 appointment if you don't get seen until 3:30??

The person who first took me back did not tell me her name or what we were doing-just 'ok, come with me' each time. Would of like more info. Dr. Hawthorne was professional and friendly. Also, would of liked to know if eyes were same or different than prescription.

In all my visits to Howerton, I have been impressed by the friendly and caring behavior of all the staff. They know their stuff, and are ready to explain things we are concerned about. The waiting room is comfortable with plenty of magazines and a TV that plays travel movies instead of noisy junk. Always a nice experience to be there.

As expected, the visit was most pleasurable. The greeting staff was extremely courteous. The technicians made you feel very comfortable, and of course, Dr. Hawthorne was ON POINT. Even though I feel that the in-between waits can be time -consuming, I love the aquarium. It is so relaxing and calming. I am very pleased to have Howerton as my clinic.

I'm happy with my experience at the clinic. Everyone was very polite and patient with me. Staff is experienced and professional. Wait time for Dr. however, was close to 45 minutes. Another elderly patient was waiting for close to 1 hour.

As always, Howerton provided me with excellent service. The only downside was finding out that Dr. Berkowitz will be limiting his services to people who do not have the resources for good eye care. He was my mother's eye doctor, and I chose him as my eye doctor when I aged into Medicare because he was so good to her. However, I look forward to dealing with Dr. Hawthorne in the future. Her reputation is very good.
