The actual service of Dr. Royer and her assistant has been great. They are friendly, funny, very knowledgeable, and understanding of various situations. I would highly recommend them. My only issue has been more on the logistics side of things. Two appointments ago, reception told me that my insurance no longer covers even basic teeth cleanings. I thought that was odd (since I've had the same insurance for 10 years and I was not notified of any changes) so I asked if they could put it through to my insurance anyway. Lo and behold, the insurance covered it (minus the typical copay). In addition, I was notified 2 appointments ago that a part of my tooth had chipped. I made an appointment for it and asked what it would cost (I know my insurance will not cover it). I was told $69 (or something around there). My insurance company gives me a little extra money on a credit card which only had $100 so I remember that I could cover it and breathed a sigh of relief. However, at the end of my recent appointment for that, I was told it was around $160. I was very upset and asked to send to my insurance to buy time for them to give me this year's money allocation to the credit card. Lastly, I was told that my insurance no longer covers yearly teeth x-rays so I will have to pay out of pocket on my next regular teeth cleaning (I was told it's like once every 3 years now). I didn't check with my insurance on that but I wouldn't be surprised if that's true. However, doing a brief search, it turns out yearly teeth x-rays are not even recommended by the ADA. For healthy adults, it's only necessary every 2-3 years. I feel like another disagreement is going to come up and that I'm always arguing with them.

I had to pay $70 on this visit for my April appointment which was my regular cleaning so I shouldn’t have incurred any expense plus I never received an invoice.

I had neglected coming in for a year. When I called to make an appointment I took the first available in January. The receptionist asked if I wanted to be put on a waitlist and she would call me when they had cancellations. I did and she was so wonderful and called me three times before we had one that fit my schedule. I was able to be seen last week rather than January. Becky was my hygienist and she was fabulous. I have sensitivity issues usually, but Becky was very thorough and gentle. I greatly appreciate everyone at this office and highly recommend them for dental care.

Everyone in the office was very friendly and professional, and I also liked Dr. May. I plan on revisiting in July, and will continue to use their office.

They were very interested in my well being. I recently had surgery and came into the office for an annual checkup and cleaning. They requested info from my surgeon protecting me from possible infection to my knee before proceeding. As it turns out I have now been prescribed Amoxicillin 60 minutes before my dental procedure.

Portsmouth Dental Associates offers incredible service from the greeting from receptionist who knows your name (Diane), to the hygienists ( they are all awesome!) who are highly skilled and gentle, to the expertise of Dr.Royer and Dr. May. I called with an issue and was given a prompt appointment date. I entered assuming I would be assessed and have to return for work. The dentist was able to do the work right there and then! The staff is awesome. I am always pleased

My experience was outstanding, from the prompt and efficient processing on arrival to the exam of a tooth that was bothering me, the review of relevant past treatments and prognosis, consultation of my Periodontist’s notes, and determination that extraction was appropriate. I broke a piece of my tooth off over the weekend. Called the office Monday a.m., they booked me for Tuesday but said if anyone canceled they would call. About 1/2 hour later they called back, a patient had canceled, I was seen that afternoon! Dr May and his staff were great! Really appreciate the extra effort they gave to get my tooth repair and me on my way. Thats why I highly recommend them to anyone.

Hygienist picked up a thrush infection in my mouth a result of high dose antibiotics I was on to treat h.pylori. My PCP is treating me.

If you weren’t as good as you are, I’d find another dental group. However, I really don’t think that will ever be necessary.

Diane greets everyone by name. That is so huge! You can get your teeth cleaned at lots of dentists on the island, but it’s the feeling like you belong that Diane exudes thst makes the difference. It was the same way when Linda was there before Diane. Everyone is friendly and professional. Always ready for you when you arrive.

I was seen for tooth pain only a couple of days before leaving for a months long trip to Southeast Asia. Had an x-Ray & dental evaluation and told I likely needed a root canal! Staff was wonderful, made a number of phone calls and got me an appointment that same day with an endodontist in Cranston. Was seen promptly and had a root canal done and was able to go on my trip and be pain free.! Coul
